Aurora Genealogical Society of Colorado: FREE Learning Opportunities

Program/Membership Meetings:
Aurora Genealogical Society of Colorado offers FREE program/membership meetings on the 4th Tuesday of the following months: January, February, March, April, May, September & October. The November meeting is held the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. There are none in June, July, August & December.
Members and guests receive an informational letter, including the handout and Zoom link, prior to the meeting. No registration is needed for members. Guests do need to register by emailing AurGenSoc@gmail.com within 7 days of the meeting. The January, February, March & November meetings are Zoom only. The April, May, September, & October are hybrid-in person meetings held at Hoffman Heights Library (lower level) at 1298 Peoria St, Aurora, CO 80011. Zoom capabilities are available for those who cannot attend. In case of inclement weather, these in person meetings will be switched to Zoom. All meetings will have a presentation of genealogical content given by a speaker followed by a shortened business meeting. Classes:
Aurora Genealogical Society of Colorado offers FREE classes from time to time throughout the year on varied topics at the Hoffman Heights Library (lower level) usually from 10:30 am to noon. Classes are currently TBA. Keep an eye out for announcements in the Aurora Public Library Explore Your Library publication under the Adult section, the AGS newsletter, Facebook, webpage, and membership emails. If you have a particular subject in mind, please share with our Genealogist at BarbWalker1014@aol.com These HYBRID classes are taught by society members and arranged by the society genealogist.
Genealogy Room:
The newly opened Genealogy Room for the Aurora Genealogical Society of Colorado is located at the Hoffman Heights Library (lower level), 1298 Peoria St, Aurora, 80011. Librarian, Alice Jablonski, (agslibrarian@gmail.com) has returned to facilitate the FREE genealogy help available to all interested parties. The hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This room has one computer and one black & white printer (you can bring your own laptop) with no paid sites, a small collection of reference books and knowledgeable help. Volunteers are needed to cover the hours of operation. If interested, contact our librarian.
Beginning Your Family History: Genealogy 101
The Aurora Public Library sponsors this FREE drop in help on the 2nd Saturday of the month (see schedule in Explore Your Library @ auroragov.org/adults/the more you know ) from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Central Library, 14949 E Alameda Pkwy, Aurora, CO 80012 lower level computer lab January through September. Volunteer help is provided by our society. There is no registration.
Aurora Colorado Family Search Center Classes:
The FamilySearch Center at 950 Laredo, Aurora, CO 80011 (303-367-0570) offers FREE classes starting in September and ending in April on the 2nd Friday evening of scheduled months at 7:00 pm -8:00 pm via Zoom only. A Zoom link will be sent month to month so that you may attend any or all classes as you desire. If interested please provide your name and email address and send a request to: CO_Aurora@FamilyHistoryMail.org Class schedules will be included in the above sites listed above or call the center. Operating hours are Wednesday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. This center has several of the paid genealogical sites for visitor usage free while at the center.
